Teaching Statement
I received my PhD in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2015 and completed a T32 postdoctoral fellowship in neurodevelopmental disabilities at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities in 2017. In addition to the training provided in my coursework, I attended the Future Faculty Fellowship Program at UNC Chapel Hill’s Center for Faculty Excellence, where I learned essential skills for teaching adult learners.
For over 10 years, I have had the opportunity to mentor students and teach courses, guest lectures, and workshops for a wide variety of learners, from undergraduate students who are exploring their career options to masters, doctoral, and postdoctoral trainees who are gaining advanced degrees in speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, special education, psychology, and neurodevelopmental disabilities. My teaching has taken me to local parent and professional meetings in North Carolina and to international conferences and workshops across the United States, Bolivia, and Spain, where I have had the opportunity to teach in both English and Spanish.
Teaching is such a joy to me, and I am excited to share my experiences with you here. Please explore my teaching portfolio to find out why, how, and what I teach.
